About the Author
Richard Courtney is a veteran
real estate broker in Nashville, Tennessee. This book
results from knowledge gained from the sale of more than 1,000
properties since he entered the real estate business in 1978.
Courtney is a Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager, Certified Residential
Specialist, and Accredited Buyer Representative. He serves on the boards
of the National Association of REALTORS®,
the Tennessee Association of REALTORS and
the Greater Nashville Association of
REALTORS, where he is president. He also serves as the NAR Federal
Political Coordinator to Congressman Jim Cooper and the Realtors Political
Involvement Committee representative for Tennessee.
Courtney holds the Lifetime Award of Excellence from
the Greater Nashville Association of REALTORS and was honored by the
organization with the President’s Award for his work in affordable
housing and as REALTOR of the Year for 2004. He was also named 2007
REALTOR of the Year by the Tennessee Association of REALTORS and voted “Best
Realtor” by Nashville Scene readers in 2005.
When he’s not selling real estate or writing books, he’s
writing or talking about it. Courtney is featured as a contributing

estate columnist for The
Tennessean. And
he provides commentary on the real estate industry for industry publications

Courtney is an active community volunteer and finds time to indulge
his Beatlemania as
founder of Nashville’s Fab Four Festivals. An
alumnus of Columbia Military Academy in Columbia, Tennessee, and the
University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, Courtney lives in Nashville
with his wife, Beth, and their two dogs.
